CCTV Personal Data Protection Guidelines

When installing a CCTV system, faculty, department, or center to ensure compliance with personal data protection principles and to follow relevant department CCTV policies.

1. The cameras are not installed in places where privacy is of concern (eg. changing room).

2. The CCTV system is protected from unlawful access.

3. The people affected are explicitly informed that they are under CCTV surveillance and the purpose of surveillance.

4. The personal data collected by the CCTV system is deleted based on data retention policy or as soon as the purpose of the surveillance is completed.

5. The effectiveness of the procedures and safeguards for the CCTV system is regularly assessed and changes should be imposed once issues are being identified.
